BNC 2.13.1 exits with option -nw

Version 2.13.1 (tested both Debian12 shared and compiled from source)
OS: Ubuntu 24.04
BNC runs fine with GUI but trying to run it without GUI (option -nw) does not work. The program exits without any log output.
The same applies to version 2.13.2 compiled from the trunk.

Unfortuantely, it is the same with --nw.
Is there anything I can do to help debug?

I tested a bit more and it works if the config file is explicitly specified with --conf.
./bnc --nw --conf /home/user/.config/BKG/BNC.bnc --key autoStart 2

That's strange because there are no changes regarding this options since a long time.
Do you have tried it with --nw?
